Adoption
What are your thoughts about adoption? I have been looking in to domestic and international adoptions a little bit and trying to learn a little more about them. I have also been researching options for financing such an adoption. There are some little boys at my school who were recently adopted from Russia which I think is a really great thing, but I was also wondering what are people's thoughts on adoptions in the United States. I just wish it wasn't so expensive. Gosh, there are so many positive things I would do if I had money...

ReplyDeleteMy husband and I were told that we would be unable to have children, so we looked into adoption about 16 years ago thru the Baptist Children's Home. There was an application to fill out, money due at different times that way you weren't hit all at once with a lot of money due.
I have also done research in the last few years on adoption and there are some sights (I don't recall their names, sorry!!) but some places offer financial assistance. I have even read of people who have asked family, friends and their churches for help.
International adoption is great, Adoptions from the US are great too. There are so many children out there who need homes!!!!!
Shannon and I also looked into fostering with the local fostering association here in Henderson. There are some children that are in foster care that are up for adoption and that is FREE. They did say that it is hard to get a baby because that's what everyone wants, but they have them from all ages. You do have to attend training classes prior to a child being placed in your home.
